On a mission to be the youngest team ever to win an around the world race, Ocean Globe Race 2027

UK / Other European port- Cape Town – Australia / New Zealand – Punta Del Este

Momentum – Future Onboard aims to give the next generation the opportunity to take on one of the toughest challenges in the world. We want to show what young people can achieve by believing in themselves, setting a goal, and working hard to reach it.

Our mission is to become the youngest team ever to win an around-the-world race with an international all-U30 crew. We are working to restore the Spirit of Helsinki to its Fazer Finland-era racing condition.

The project represents the necessity of an international mindset for success. In today’s world, collaboration across borders is essential, and Momentum will be a prime example of how adaptability and teamwork are key to achieving success – both in and beyond the race.

Momentum isn’t just about competing in the Ocean Globe Race 2027—it’s about making a real impact. That’s why we are committed to raising awareness of the vulnerable state of the Baltic Sea while also raising 270,000 € for the John Nurminen Foundation. This means 10 € for every mile sailed in the 27,000-nautical-mile endurance race. In 2027, there will be two races – one around the world, and one for the Baltic Sea!

Four months after finishing the Ocean Globe Race, I realized how much I was missing being at sea and the preparation of a project of such a magnitude. I decided that I needed to put up a campaign for the next OGR or else I would regret it for the rest of my life!

Thus, Momentum – Future onboard was born.
